Pain meds

Day four without pain meds. Some discomfort, off and on, but nothing like that inflicted by my son who is twenty-four, is still living at home, and is increasingly disrespectful and unwilling to do anything except complain. And the more his mother and I have done, for the sake of his little boy, the worse it's gotten.

And while others in the family have rightly said that we have ourselves to blame for this, it's awfully hard to ignore the needs, which might otherwise go unmet, of the little boy who is completely innocent of blame and yet has suffered quite enough despite our best efforts.

For some pain there is no pill, no therapy, and, increasingly, little reason to hope...
