There are actually two versions of this performance, the one embedded here and the one which received the "Golden Buzzer" on America's Got Talent.
I was a bit torn over which to use because, in my opinion, the male soloist is stronger in this one but, in the AGT version, the director talks about her purpose in founding the group and, apropos of that, there's more of a group feel to the performance with no single vocalist standing out quite so markedly.
Aside from that, there's almost as much backstory to this version as there are covers and interpretations of the lyrics--which themselves come with an interesting story of their origins and in turn suggest a broader and deeper interpretation.
However, among choral performances of the piece, I think this is one of the best, bringing together vocal and performance art aspects at a level not seen in the others...
