Stronger

For the past two days, I've climbed two of the hills on my bike route without dropping down to the middle chain ring to make it easier. Actually, did it once yesterday, on my second ride, and twice today.

Which means that the legs are finally regaining some of the strength which I inevitably lose riding the indoor trainer over the winter. I'd always found that to be the case, even when I was in my mid-50s and doing a 20-mile round trip commute to and from work.

There were a couple of years when, for reasons I don't recall, I didn't use the trainer and suffered the consequences when the roads opened back up in the spring. And so I've always appreciated the benefits of indoor training.

But, as I said, even two decades ago there was a performance gap that had to be closed 2-4 weeks into the new season. If I'd trained indoors, it usually took about 2 weeks; if not, it took about 4.

Anyway, I'm not even sure how many weeks I've been riding outdoors this year, 2-3 months at least, and I was beginning to wonder if I was ever gonna close that gap.

Now, apparently, hopefully, I have.

Hope everyone has a good evening...
