Just realized what an amazing time I've been having just because I've added some very basic metal working to the repertoire of things that I've been doing in the shop.

In the past, I'd done some very crude autobody repair by gas-welding floors and trunks into junk cars that I'd either bought that way or owned long enough for them to get into that condition.

And during the same period in my life, I once spent my lunch hours in the shop cutting and brazing square steel tubing for a set of speaker stands that actually turned out quite well.

Recently, I've been using various kinds of aluminum stock, although not for anything fancy, nothing requiring tools or technique any more sophisticated than my marginally talented hands on a hacksaw or bench grinder. Because I don't have any of that, tools or technique, and because aluminum is inherently easy to work with.

And most of what I've done has been more decorative than functional. Which, I know, is not a very manly thing to have to admit, lol. But now I'm maybe trying a little too desperately to redeem my threatened manhood with an adjustable rifle stock which uses aluminum channel as a structural component.

Anyway, this morning, as soon as I was awake, I was thinking about running back over to the Home Depot to pick up some specialty fasteners for that project.

First, though, gotta take my meds. Because, you know, gotta live long enough to get the rest of it done, lol...
