A Second Thought
Oct. 1st, 2009 08:05 amWhat a foolish thing to have written. My post, that is, about Lucy Vodden possibly finding consolation in the immortality conferred by Lennon/McCartney's "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds."
Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects various systems of the body. It's progressive, debilitating and painful and Lucy Vodden suffered with it a number of years before she died.
In fact, the consolation she found was in the kindness of her old schoolmate, Julian Lennon. When he heard of her plight, a few months before her death, he gifted her with flowers and vouchers from a local garden center.
Before she died, she spoke of his kindness, having earlier expressed her dismay at being associated with his father's reputedly drug-themed lyric.
In matters of life and death and immortality, we need to temper our remarks with wisdom, compassion and fidelity to the truth...
