Enough

After more than a week's layoff, I've now made it to the track four days in a row. It's been pretty chilly, but I've long since learned how to dress for cold-weather athletics. That said, I also have to admit that calling what I do "athletics" is slightly laughable.

As a consequence, there's none of those euphoria-inducing brain chemicals to combat the general crappiness of the life I've been experiencing lately. It's just been... a walk, a deliberate, solitary movement through cold space, beneath increasingly hostile skies.

So it's a little hard to explain what the actual benefit might be. Maybe it's just the idea of putting one foot forward and then the other, the taking of steps, the living of days.

The suggestion, implicit in these simple movements, that life in fact goes on. And that this will somehow turn out to be enough...
