yet again

[thisnewday]

little boy,
you have escaped
out our door
again;

like before,
i was fooled by,
"hi, poppa, i'm home,"
and then

after a few
stories read,
a hurt knee
or elbow kissed,

somehow,
foolishly,
having had you
in my grip

for hugs and
a goodbye kiss,
i've let you go
again...
