My son took little Jay and the girlfriend out for breakfast this morning, so I had a rare chance to put something besides SpongeBob on the TV.

I tried to watch something called "Kill the Poor" on the Indy Film Channel but couldn't concentrate.

I guess when there's a boatload of problems in the lives around you, it doesn't make sense to go looking for more in whatever passes for "entertainment."

The Apprentice

Little Jay was helping his dad paint the outside stairs when I left for the track. When I got back home, he was inside playing a video game.

Poppa: "So, did you help paint?"

LJ: (referring to the splotches of white primer on his arms, torso and legs) "Yeah, whaddaya think?"

Poppa: "Well, didja get any on the stairs?"
