thisnewdayOne of the most beautiful musical performances I've heard in a long time, maybe ever, was Carter Brey, longtime Principle Cellist of the NY Philharmonic, playing Duke Ellington's "On a Turquoise Cloud." He was accompanied on piano by Rob Fischer, and the arrangement was so simple and elegant that it felt like the distilled essence, the very soul, of Ellington's composition. Their performance was featured on this week's edition of Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion" and can be found at the PHC website...
