Another Year
Sep. 13th, 2017 04:59 pmThere it is, yet again:
Another something, triggered by nothing.
I stand, walk, from room to room,
And suddenly, the tears threaten.
I catch my breath, walk through another doorway,
Tense momentarily, and they are gone.
Except for the aftertaste,
The bitter promise,
Of their return.
Later, I walk down the stairs,
Gripping the handrail,
Having gotten older
Another year,
It seems,
This very day...
