Even though I haven't read this month's selection, I've decided to attend this morning's meeting of the book club in Liverpool.

It's been a couple of months since I last attended and, as I explained in a text to my grandson, it's one of the few things I do, these days, to maintain contact with anyone outside of the family.

So, the phone will be off and I'll be some distance away from the goings-on here. In the hope that I'll actually be getting, in some sense, closer to myself.

Hope everyone has a good day...

Oh good. Is the book about the girls who painted the watch faces? I watched a documentary about them which was interesting. Let me know if you try it.

As for today, it is miserably hot and humid and the strawberry shortcake I made, though fabulous, has not jived with my innards. So been reading nearly all day.

I forget that you were born while the war was still on which even though you were quite young makes your experience different than mine. Rather amazing you might have held one of those watches.

I looked at both books on Amazon, and couldn't decide which might be the better choice so will let you be the guinea pig. :-)

Picked another big batch of berries this morning, wish I could send you a shortcake.
