This Morning
Nov. 6th, 2019 09:52 amThe sky over Central New York, at almost 10 o'clock this morning, is mostly cloudless and intensely bright. I haven't been outside, to know the ambient temperature, but the intense light of this mid-morning is teasingly alluring. Almost like, you know, a certain picture?
"Come outside," it says, "you won't even need a jacket--a tee shirt and shorts will be fine. You remember what summer is like, right? Well then, come out here and enjoy the light."
"Ignore," it goes on to say, "that the summer is past, that the leaves are fallen. Ignore that you're now old and often wear a jacket within the shelter of your own small house." It continues to tease, that way, like her picture.
Meanwhile, like a nightmare that we've somehow not awakened from but instead have begun to anticipate falling into, last night's weather forecast, a local station's "Live Doppler Radar with Wayne Mahar," teases as well around the edges of our consciousness: "snow, one to three inches, by tomorrow night..."
In an hour or so, after completion of the morning routine--BP check, hydration, inhaled medication, breakfast smoothie, oral hygiene, the brushing and combing of now-thinning but still dark, copper hair--I will, in fact, pull on a jacket and venture outside...

Date: 2019-11-06 07:27 pm (UTC)Then arriving here, I find You, my friend being teased by the promise of a fine day. As you succumbed, so, I too, fell prey to the lure of sunshine and warmth and wandered idly to the West, sketchbook in hand and feeling not so old really.
Still feeling great, hope you are too.

Date: 2019-11-06 09:15 pm (UTC)On my way back, stopped at my daughter's for a brief chat and saw the granddaughters. So mine's been good too, thanks.
BTW, no speculation about the picture mentioned above, lol?

Date: 2019-11-06 09:48 pm (UTC)She would sure like to think that being old is a dream that can be shaken off by a fresh autumn breeze. And she's willing to gamble her heart on a whim. Always was. Always will.
If a tease makes you tingle just think of the real deal.
Copper hair...mmmmmmm

Date: 2019-11-06 10:46 pm (UTC)And we had the same gorgeous, luminous sunny day here that you had in the 'Cuse. But I had so many pending deadlines that I couldn't leave the house except to teach my ESL student. If I don't exercise, I get snarly and mean, so I'm sitting here now gnashing my teeth.☹️

Date: 2019-11-07 12:34 am (UTC)Hope you're able to get outside a bit, before the intense cold, and that you're able to stay comfortable once it gets there...
