Long Enough
Dec. 15th, 2020 09:21 pmAfter 5 consecutive days of bicycling out on the open road, Black Allegro is now back in the basement and mounted in the mag trainer.
It's not, of course, my preference but I'm quite confident, this time, that the routine I've written for it will help me to maintain at least a minimal level of cardiovascular fitness over the wintery months that lie ahead.
Anyway, the first thing I did when I got up this morning, was to check conditions on the road outside of my house and on the shoulders to either side of it.
There was a dusting of snow still covering the lawns and trees and driveways, but whatever had been on the road had melted off. Later, when that had dried, I could tell by the white dust that remained that it had been liberally salted overnight with calcium chloride.
Which, of course, I don't want on bearings, chains, gears or inside of my lungs. Hence the move back into the basement.
But I did have the five days--which was totally unexpected, and a blessing, given the otherwise stressful and difficult circumstances of my life during the same period of time.
I've been on this Earth long enough to know that things don't always work out that way. And long enough to be thankful when they do.
Hope everyone has a good night...
