Maybe it's the cold, grey morning, here in Central New York, or maybe it's the fallout, the exhaled breath, the longing for a normal life born of isolation and events of the past couple of days, but I've been listening to a couple of my favorite covers of the Mamas and the Papas' classic, "California Dreamin.'" Both are on YouTube and that's the best place to see them and hear them.

The first cover is a studio recording by, from what I can gather, a sort of all-star assemblage from various School of Rock franchises. The lead vocalist is Lauren Frihauf who has her own YT channel and has also appeared, I think, on America's got Talent.

The second cover is by Atlanta-based cover band Foxes & Fossils which features three or four "fossils," old guys who formerly performed in F&F founder Tim Purcell's Mustangs. The "foxes" are three young women including Tim's daughter Sammie, her friend Maggie Adams--with whom she sang in church choir, and Chase Truran who has her own YT channel and sings lead on their cover of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."
