Very rarely have I used my nebulizer more than twice a day. My prescription is actually written for up to four uses per day, but that's to assure that I have adequate meds in case I get sick. So my daily routine has been to use it in the morning, when I get up, and then again at night before I go to bed.

Today, though, I've been bothered most of the day with a dry, mostly unproductive cough and a feeling of "something" in my lungs. The sort of feeling I have in the morning when I first get up.

The last time I did a "three-a-day," I didn't like the result for reasons I can't even remember. Maybe a side effect, like dizziness or nervous agitation. So I was reluctant to try it again this time.

I'd tried to nap, but couldn't get comfortable. So finally went upstairs and did a midday treatment. And, guess what, I feel much better!

Still have no clue as to what the problem is, maybe an uptick in the seasonal allergies that I've been plagued with since childhood and for which I still take other medications.

Anyway, I'm glad I had this option and decided to use it. I'm gonna sit for a few minutes and read and then do my workout and then my bike ride--which I'm sure increases my exposure to whatever is in the air.

But I've gotta ride, just like I've gotta eat and breathe.

Hope everyone is having a halfway decent day...

Really suffering, tonight, with a cold which, at first, seemed content to merely inconvenience, with sneezing and a runny nose, for a couple of days but then moved quickly and decisively into my chest.

(Because I have COPD, with its attendant respiratory symptoms, it's sometimes hard to tell when and if an ordinary cold has transitioned into something more serious. Unfortunately, these days, it's not so much a matter of if it will happen but when.)

I'd gone to bed, early for me, quite exhausted after a day of almost nothing done and little accomplished. I even skipped my workout because of the joint pain and fatigue that seemed to be coming on.

My greatest concern is that my grandson Jason not catch this. I've been harping quite relentlessly for him to take his inhaled steroids, Singulaire, multi-vitamins, extra vitamin C. To wash his hands and keep them away from his face. And to stay away from his little brother, who's always infected with something but seems to get over it quite quickly. Which is not the case with Jason.

I've also been acting like that obsessive-compulsive cleaner, Danny Tanner, on Nickelodeon's "Full House," sanitizing my hands, the computer mouse and keyboard, the headphones, anything through which we might make indirect contact and thereby transmit the virus.

Lastly, I've put my nebulizer parts into a sealed container of 91% alcohol. Just in case, when comes the dawn, that horrible rattle that signals occluded airways seems likely to stay with me through the day...
